Volvo’s C30 came to Australia with the promise of being something almost radical. S40-based but shorter and lighter, the three-door C30 introduced rear-end styling aspects that had so far only appeared on show prototypes. The very driveable C30 is an appealing, attractive personal coupe that benefits from its refined S40 platform. Engines are all five-cylinder -- petrol or diesel -- and transmissions include manual or auto five-speeders. Mid-level LE models add leather trim and a power/memory driver’s seat to S equipment (six airbags, ABS, traction control, trip computer, eight-speaker CD audio).
