The hatchback and sedan Meganes are Renault’s mainstay models, currently representing by far the bulkiest slice of the company’s Australian sales -- and will only consolidate with the turbodiesel version that became available in late 2007 with a claimed manual-transmission average fuel consumption of 5.8L/100km. The VW Jetta-size Renault’s dCi diesel is a 1.9-litre four-cylinder producing 96kW and 300Nm in six-speed manual form, and 96kW/260Nm as a four-speed auto. The second-tier Megane Expression dCi sedan lists six airbags, stability control, 16-inch alloys, automatic climate control, trip computer and four-speaker CD audio as standard.
