Porsche and Volkswagen worked together to produce two different SUVs aimed at different segments of the market. VW has the Touareg, while Porsche competes much higher with the Cayenne, starting at close to $100,000 in base petrol V6 form. Unlike many SUVs, the big, bulky and spacious Cayenne is actually prepared to have a go in the bush via its dual-range transmission that offers low-speed crawling capability. The V8 versions are more Porsche-like on the road, with the regular 4.8-litre V8 model producing 283kW and 500Nm and delivering it to the ground via the six-speed Tiptronic automatic.
