The C-Class sedan based CLK coupe and cabriolet aims at the segment also occupied by BMW's 3 Series coupe and convertible, Audi's A4 convertible and A5 coupe, and Saab's 9-3 convertible. The CLK range begins with the 1.8-litre CLK 200 Kompressor version employing the familiar 153kW/250Nm supercharged four-cylinder powerplant driving through a Benz five-speed auto. The sportier CLK 200 Avantgarde coupe comes with lowered suspension, bi-Xenon headlights, 17-inch alloys, upgraded brakes and interior touches including contoured front seats and alloy-faced floor pedals. Naturally ESP, eight airbags, parking sensors, automatic climate control, and power front seats with memory are included.
