Clarity in Pricing

Clarity in Pricing legislation - refers to recently introduced legislation which has made changes to the way pricing is displayed to consumers. The legislation aims to enable consumers to compare similar products and make informed purchasing decisions. As a result of this legislation, we have made some changes to our site which we believe will assist consumers in comparing products.

Dealer Delivery – Dealer delivery is a fee that you (the customer) pay directly to the dealer when you purchase a vehicle through a dealership. The delivery charge is paid to the dealer because they have prepared the car for sale/purchase. This is included in the drive away price.

Registration – Vehicle registration is the compulsory registration of the vehicle with a state/territory government authority. Depending on the state you live in registration can be determined using a number of differing methods. Therefore, you need to check how it is determined in your state. It may be determined using the number of cylinders of the vehicle, tare weight, where the vehicle is garaged, gross vehicle mass or the engine capacity (ml/L) of the vehicle. This is included in the drive away price.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance – This type of insurance is compulsory and must be taken out prior to or when registering a vehicle. Cover for CTP Insurance differs from State to State, but the general principle is that CTP covers other people injured as a result of your fault in an accident, however it does not cover you for damage to the vehicle or other property. The amount that you will be required to pay for CTP insurance, is dependant on a number of factors including the state/territory you are in; the provider of insurance; in some states/territories where the vehicle will be garaged; in some states/territories the number of cylinders of the vehicle; in some states/territories the class of vehicle; in some states/territories the market value of the vehicle; and in some states/territories the purpose for which the vehicle will be used. All of these factors may affect the cost of CTP insurance that you need to pay. This is included in the drive away price.

Stamp Duty – May also be called transfer duty or general duty. It is collected by state and territory governments, as they impose taxes on a range of different transactions. Taxable transactions include motor vehicle registration and transfer. You should check with your state/territory authority to determine how the stamp duty is calculated. It can depend on the type of car purchased, the market or dutiable value of the vehicle, the number of cylinders of the vehicle, and every state uses different taxable rates. This is included in the drive away price.
